jAlbum Pages Setting

If jAlbum's Pages tab does not have 'Make slide pages' checked the album will be made as a single page, as this manual is. You can still have alternative images to the main image, just follow the same method as if you were making slide pages.

Theme image

The theme image can 'push' the page content off the bottom of the screen, with just a 'continue' button and the small navigation bar at the bottom. Clicking the 'continue' button brings the page content up, with the navigation bar at the top.

These controls select how index and template pages are displayed, as described bove or with the page content already partially shown. Root index only means just the 'landing/album home' page. All index pages means all index pages including the root and all subfolders. All index and template pages is just that, every page except for slide pages (if included) have their content off the screen.

Fonts

These settings let you select a font for the main title and another for the content. The default is to use web safe fonts, but you can use Google fonts if you want more choice. To use Google fonts check the setting 'Use Google fonts...' and then click on the 'F' icons to be taken to Google fonts. There are two blocks of code to copy and paste into the text boxes for each font. For example, to use the Lato font enter the code below as a contiguous block of text:

<link href='https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:300,400,700' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

font-family: 'Lato', sans-serif;

Logo

To include a logo file, transparent png's work best, tick the checkbox and then click on the 'Include a logo in the theme image'. Navigate to your logo file and click OK. You can set the height of the logo between 50 and 300 pixels, it will not scale up to avoid fuzzy images.

You can then select the location position, left, centre or right. If you have entered a URL in the jAlbum's page settings the logo will act as a link to that location.

Images

You can include a download button for visitors to save a copy of the image, either the linked to image or, if available, the original.

The unique feature of Missive is it's ability to show an alternative image. To use this feature simply enter the name of a folder to store the extra images and in jAlbum explore view add such a folder wherever you want to display an altertnaive image to the main 'slide' image. The three settings for extra images become available for deselection, all are enabled by default. This will ensure that any extra image include has the same attribute as the main image. If you exclude a main image the extra will also be excluded, the same goes for include or use original. If the settings are unchecked the extra image attributes will be used. These settings can be overriden by editing the extra image and selecting the 'Missive' panel, click on the icon above the image to see how, click on it again to revert to this.

Inside of the additional images folder add your alternative image using the same name as the main image. So, for example a folder contains a main image called 'Front.jpg' and you want to show the 'Back.jpg' as the alternative. Enter the name for the alternative folder, say 'extras' and in the folder with Front.jpg add a subfolder called extras. Now add Back.jpg to that folder and rename the image to 'Front.jpg'. Add a title and, if wanted, a comment to the alternative image. When the album is made the page with alterative images will show a button to swap both the image and the alternatives title and comments,

External links

You can add up to two links to external sites, such as your sites home page or a link to another of your activities on the net. Just enter the link first and then the name to be used for the link.

Miscellaneous

These settings are divided into two sets of controls, one for index pages the other for slide pages - if made.

Index pages

Folder ordering, the page can be configured to have folders first, mixed as positioned in jAlbum's sort order or last.

Controls above object, such as navigation, download and image swap default to being below the object. Check the box to have them positioned above the object.

Include dates, if checked will display the date the object was last modified. Once checked the controls 'Directories only' and 'Dates above object' become active. Selecting directories only will remove dates from thumbnails/slide images on the index page. This gives additional differentiation (directories have a 'Full story' button) between directories and non-directory objects. Dates above has the same effect on dates as controls above does on control elements.

If slide pages are being made (jAlbum/Settings/Pages/Image linking/Make slides) the following three controls become active:

Allow comments if slides made, this allows comments to be shown under the object. If selected then you can also choose to show just an excerpt of the comments by checking the next box, left unchecked and you get the full comment. If an excerpt is chosen you can set the number of words to be displayed. If the comment is shorter than the number of words selected you get the full comment, otherwise you get the number of words followed by an elipsis '…', to indicate there is more. An excerpt of the comment under a thumbnail is most useful for long text displayed on slide pages.

Slide pages

These are the same set of controls as for the index pages except the last three are not needed. Turning off comments on slide pages, whilst enabling them on the index page can help to keep the visitors focus on the object being shown. It also means the visitor does not need to scroll down to see the text. However, if you have alternative images for slide pages you should not disable comments on slide pages if you also have included alternative images with their own text.

CSS code

This lets you enter CSS code to change specific design elements of the resultant web pages.
